Book: North Star

Summary: Since her divorce a year ago, Kate Thurston feels like she's lurched from one disaster to another. Her teenage daughter, Georgia, seems to have morphed into a monster overnight, and her son Liam breaks her heart with his sad brown eyes.
When Kate receives news that her grandfather has bequeathed her North Star, the vast property that has been in her family for generations, it feels like the perfect opportunity to flee the hectic pace of city life for a calmer rural existence.
As soon as she arrives at North Star, however, Kate realises she's going to need every ounce of determination to restore the rundown homestead to its former glory and fulfil her dream of turning it into a bush retreat. And as for the farm, well it's in utter disarray. As she starts to make headway with the homestead's restoration, and falls for a local bloke, Kate finally feels like life is going right for her. Then her ex-husband comes to town and triggers a series of events that will change her life forever ...

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED. Awesome trashy country romance! Can't wait for more from this author!

Hi Gemma! Another mid north coast local author I know. She has also written The Cattleman's Runaway Bride under her first author name Karlene Blakemore-Mowle http://karlenelane.blogspot.com/2010/04/cattlemans-runaway-bride.html Also a great read. Plus she has some online ebooks that you can purchase - I'm yet to read these ones. Karly is another author who is keen to be involved in the Girls Night In.

Thought you may have read it Sharon. You've got great authors all around you! I follow her blog and fb page as well as all those other country authors we both love. Can't get her first book from my public library though. Bugger! Added it to my wishlist though! More country book reviews coming! What's the Girls Night In?

Girls night in is an idea I have for a library event. I hope to run it towards the end of October this year. I hope to have a panel of 4-5 women authors from the local area (Karly and Bronwyn are already keen). There will be wine and cheese and lots of discussion about the books and genres the panel writes in. The night will be for women only (maybe - not sure if I can do that or not) and gold coin donations will be asked with proceeds going to cancer council.

BTW I am waiting for North Star to come in at the library as I have it on order so am yet to read it!!
